Imaginem que als turistes que parlen en anglès no s’atreviria a respondre’ls “no tenemos obligación de saber inglés”. Òbviament vam marxar. Until yesterday I went there with a friend and when I asked in Catalan if it would be possible to have dinner, the very rude waiter replied "no tenemos obligación de saber Catalan". Let's imagine that tourists who speak English would not dare to answer them "no tenemos obligación de saber inglés". Obviously we left. Full stop forever to a place I used to love, because of extremely unpleasant and offensive customer service. Mikhaela Martin: Vivo en Barcelona y estoy muy acostumbrada a frecuentar la plaza donde se encuentra El Salón. Sin embargo, siempre solía sentar en los otros bares que tienen en esta plaza. En este día en particular, estaba con mis amigas que estaban de visita en Barcelona y decidimos ir a este restaurante porque también queríamos comer.Lamentablemente, la experiencia que tuvimos fue bastante desagradable. El camarero que tardó mucho tiempo en atender nuestra mesa (decidimos tomar asiento en la terraza/exterior del restaurante) fue increíblemente brusco al informarnos que solo se permitía sentar a personas que fueran a comer en esa mesa. Educadamente, le expliqué qué, efectivamente, íbamos a comer y simplemente queríamos pedir una botella de vino mientras ojeábamos el menú. Sin embargo, él seguía repitiendo una y otra vez que si no íbamos a comer, debíamos abandonar la mesa. Intenté explicarle varias veces que nuestra intención era disfrutar de una comida y bebidas, y que entendía que ese espacio estuviera destinado a la cena. Pero él continuó insistiendo en que lo estaba engañando y que sabía que no íbamos a pedir nada de la carta. Addie Meyer: This was possibly one of the best restaurants that we went here during my time in Barcelona!The atmosphere was welcoming and intimate and the staff were very polite and gave amazing service, which made it a really great spot for a date night.Everything we ate here was top notch and amazing. I will definitely come back here to have more of the fresh pasta with prawns and garlic and the lamb chops with honey and mustard with potatoes mille-feuille.

Jonathan Campbell: After a number of disappointing meals in Barcelona we were relieved to finally find a decent restaurant. It is tucked away down a small street, and I would recommend booking as it was very busy. My wife had lamb confit for main course which we have never seen on a menu before. Staff were friendly and efficient and the prices were good value for money.

I politely explained what we were actually eating and just wanted to order a bottle of wine while we perused the menu. However, he kept repeating over and over again that if we were not going to eat, we had to leave the table. I tried to explain several times that our intention was to enjoy food and drinks, and that I understood that this space was meant for dinner. But he kept insisting that I was cheating on him and that he knew we weren't going to order anything from the menu. This led me to try to order some food as well to try to defuse the situation, but even so he became more and more persistent and I got to the point of expressing my bewilderment at what was happening and calling his behavior very rude.Unfortunately, her response turned aggressive and she started accusing me of being the rude one, insisting that she knew we weren't going to eat. At that point, we decided to get up and find another place where we would be treated kindly. The situation was surreal and as a result I have no intention of returning to that establishment in the future.Honestly, this experience has left a very negative impression on us and I hope that situations like these don't happen to other clients. Osea o gastas para comer sus patatas fritas o fuera, porque esta es la restoración en Barcelona, no eres un cliente sino un bolsillo con piernas. Naturalmente las tres mesas quedaron vacías para mucho rato, prefieren esto que trabajar.Volverá el invierno, se irán los turistas y los locales te evitarán. Luego a llorar para ayudas.

Rich flavors, smooth textures and amazing service were present through the whole meal. At the end the dessert chef and the sous chef both came out to talk with us and ensure our meals were up to the mark and we had nothing but compliments to pay! I would highly recommend this establishment.Note: I did however suffer, the night after, with some food poisoning, which could have been from this restaurant or from another meal I ate in Girona, but when I communicated this to Enoteca they assured me that their produce is fresh and locally sourced and cleanly prepared.

I get fed up with reading the bad reviews about the price and quality of the food, etc. Yes, this is a pricey place but really, you do get what you pay for. I always find the staff to be helpful, and fun and pleasant and we always have a fun time there. We leant a lot about different types of Cava this time too from our very helpful waiter. I could go to this place for the razor clams alone. The half ration of Iberian ham (and coco pan con tomato) was enough for 3 of us and was sweet and melted in the mouth. The oysters were meaty and outstanding. We had a seafood paella and there was no need for us to fiddle around peeling the prawns, etc - that was already taken care of. After consuming this we did notice that it may have been on the salty side but hey, I think they know what they are doing! The ambience is always fun and lively and of course there is a view right over the sea and the city. What is not to like!!!
